2020 Château de Monbazan Blanc, Graves
Notes
Château de Monbazan has deep roots in Landiras, where the Labuzan family has grown vines since 1634. The estate took a major turn in 1963, when Robert and Paulette Labuzan converted the vineyards to organic farming, long before it was common in Graves. In 1988, the family created the modern domaine name, and today Pierre and Béatrice Labuzan continue to run the property with their children. The estate farms 20 hectares on a mix of gravel, sand, clay, and clay-limestone soils, right at the meeting point of Graves and Sauternes. Reds are machine-harvested, whites hand-picked, with fermentations running 15–21 days and élevage of about 12 months, keeping the focus on clean, terroir-driven Graves character.
