Château Rieussec is a Premier Cru Classé Sauternes estate classified in 1855, situated at the junction of Fargues and Sauternes adjacent to Château d'Yquem, and owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite since 1984. The 85-hectare vineyard is planted primarily to Sémillon, with Sauvignon Blanc (17%) and Muscadelle (3%) on sandy gravel and clay soils, with harvesting taking place over six to eight weeks in successive passes dependent on botrytis development.
