The 2022 Barbaresco Montefico Vigna Bric Mentina is bright and focused, with fine balance, especially for the year. Sage, mint, chalk, white pepper and orange peel give the Montefico its characteristic upper register. Vineyard signatures are very much present, even if somewhat attenuated in this vintage. This small-scale Montefico is a delight, but probably best suited for medium-term drinking.

The 2022 La Ca' Növa "Montefico Vigna Bric Mentina" Barbaresco is a high-altitude, mineral-driven expression of Nebbiolo. Despite the warmth of the 2022 vintage, it maintains its signature "upper register" with an aromatic profile of sage, mint, white pepper, and orange peel over a core of bright red cherry. On the palate, it is focused and precise, balancing an "extra kick" of ripe fruit with chalky, persistent tannins and a saline, mineral finish. While slightly more open-knit than cooler years, it remains a classic, structured wine that is best suited for medium-term cellaring.
