Single-vineyard, 95-year-old riesling vines born of the Carlsfield vineyard site in Watervale. Pale with green flashes in the glass and pristine aromas of freshly squeezed lime and grapefruit with hints of crushed stone, citrus blossom, makrut lime leaves, finger lime and lemongrass. Precise with a sizzling clear line of vivid, minerally acidity and a light chalky textural element, finishing rainwater pure and downright delicious. (DB)

Fresh and vibrant aromas of lemon peel, candied lime zest and slate. The palate is light-bodied with focused acidity, showing notes of mandarin zest, green papayas and flint. Focused and precise.

Man oh man... What a zinger and banger of a white wine here. This one was right up my alley - like many of the industry folks, at a certain point in my wine journey I started chasing high acid, mineral driven wines - and this hits all the notes I love from my Rieslings. Incredibly austere, teeth numbing acid makes this wine the perfect pairing for the upcoming heat waves. On the palate you citrus, white nectarine, and peach pith, with the a long mineral driven finish of riverstone and white slate. If you are looking for Riesling from a region a little less known to the world, give this a go - no regrets will be found.

Notes

Seppeltsfield is one of Australia’s most historic and iconic wineries, established in the Barossa Valley in the mid-19th century and renowned both for its remarkable heritage and its evolving range of quality wines. Among its acclaimed white wines is the Seppeltsfield Watervale Riesling, a dry, aromatic Riesling sourced from old-vine vineyards in the Watervale sub-region of the Clare Valley—one of Australia’s famed Riesling heartlands. Bone dry and ultra refreshing, this wine brims with vibrant citrus notes such as lime and lemon, jasmine, and a pronounced mineral intensity, leading tinto a textured, talc-like persistence on the palate.
