Clos de Bussière lies just down the hill from the Clos de Tart, close to the border with Chambolle-Musigny. Fermented with 50% whole bunches, which is high for Christophe Roumier, this plush, textured, sensuous Pinot Noir may not make old bones, but it has wonderful sweetness, velvety tannins and a spicy, refreshing finish. Here too the expressive nose is quite ripe with its more complex combination of cassis, black raspberry and prominent nuances of newly turned earth. The racy, intense and nicely voluminous medium-bodied flavors aren't as fine but there's notably better depth on the firm, moderately robust and ever-so-slightly warm finale. Excellent development potential here. *Outstanding*

I quite liked the 2018 Clos de la Bussière, as the wine has excellent focus and purity to go along with a firm foundation of tannin. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a youthful blend of sappy dark berries, black cherries, raw cocoa, venison, woodsmoke, dark soil tones and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and again, really solid at the core, with ripe, buried tannins and very good length and grip on the well-balanced and promising finish. This will need more than a decade in the bottle to start to shed its tannins, but it is going to be long-lived and a very, very good vintage of Clos de la Bussière when it is really ready to drink.

Revisited from bottle, the 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière offers up aromas of cherries, raspberries, Indian spices and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and muscular, it's firm and structured, with rich, chalky tannins and a ripe core of fruit. (WK) 92+
