Review Date: 01/2024Almost black in the centre with a dense purple rim. The bouquet rests quite opaque though in no way cooked. Classic pinot in a big frame. Definitely some tannins here and quite good acidity. Still, quite chunky stuff for a Beaune. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Oct 2023.

Note: from young vines. A more elegant and fresher if still decidedly ripe nose combines notes of pretty floral and very pinot scents trimmed in discreet spice wisps. The caressing and markedly finer medium-bodied flavors possess reasonably good density for young vines while delivering solid depth and length on the more structured finale. This is very Beaune in style while retaining good balance. Worth a look.*Burghound Outstanding!*

The 2022 Beaune Les Vignes Franches 1er Cru has a very winsome bouquet with vivacious red berry fruit, blood orange, fennel and a touch of lavender. Complex and involving. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit on the entry, slightly chalky tannins, and fine acidity. Perhaps, like the Pommard, it needs a bit of finesse toward the finish. Otherwise, this should age well over the following decade.(NM)
