Note: also from a .16 ha holding. A wonderfully spicy and ultra-fresh floral-suffused nose also derives mostly from the red side of the fruit spectrum. The intense, detailed and powerful larger-scaled flavors coat the palate with dry extract while displaying superb length on the dusty, firmly austere and balanced finale. The prior wines are have their attributes but this is the clear class of the range in 2023. *Don't Miss!*

The 2023 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from two parcels in the hallowed vineyard. Like some of the other Grand Crus, this demands a little coaxing from the glass, but it rewards you with vivacious redcurrant and raspberry fruit, undergrowth, mint and light rose petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a savory opening and moderate depth. There is a little dark chocolate—I suspect from the barrel—toward the finish. Very fine, but maybe the 2022 has a bit more panache. (NM)
