Medium purple. There is very little nose initially, needing teasing out, but refined, certainly. Thomas Collardot thinks the 2023 is better than 2022 because of its subtlety and I can certainly see some of this quality in the mouth. Wavelets of fresh red berries, just a little pepper and lacy detail. I will settle on parity with 2022.

The 2023 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a lovely bouquet with brambly red fruit, sous-bois and touches of pressed rose petal blossoming in the glass. There is very fine delineation here. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It is quite svelte in texture, with pinpoint acidity and a mineral-laden finish that lingers long in the mouth. This cuvée actually surpasses the 2022.(NM)

Note: from a large 1.33 ha holding in Les Treux, En Orveau and Les Poulaillères. Once again the nose is firmly reduced and revealing nothing. In the same vein as several wines in the range, there is both excellent freshness and a super-sleek mouthfeel to the utterly delicious, if not especially dense flavors that possess a beguiling inner mouth perfumed, all wrapped in a strikingly persistent and beautifully balanced finale. Lovely.
