Reviewed January 2025As is often the case, the Gouttes d'Or from Lafon is among the richest wines in the cellar, with aromas of melon and quince. Tasted out of barrel, there is a bit of reduction. The texture is dense – Pierre Lafon commented: 'It has broader shoulders because there is more soil and the parcel starts lower on the hillside compared to Bouchères.' This wine will open more fully in three to five years and drink for another 20.(CC)

The 2023 Meursault Goutte d'Or 1er Cru, still in barrel, is a step up from the Boucheres with impressive focus to its heightened yellow fruit, nectarine and grilled walnut aromas. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity and ample weight. Touches of wild honey and white pepper appear on the finish. Excellent.(NM)

Still in barrel, this will make the hair on your back stand up. Sappy, mineral and lighteninglike in intensity,this tastes of winter citrus, plump yellow raisins and crusty baguette. Crisply dry with a ragingly long and mineral finish, this is brilliant.

Pale lemon in colour. Pears as well as apples, more restrained than Bouchères, a bit firmer in profile. Then opens up very full on the palate, more in yellow fruit, coming close to honeysuckle, with a pleasing generosity. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Oct 2024.
