White peaches, honey and sliced pineapple, with hints of flint and vanilla. It's full-bodied, racy and very long, with just a hint of vanilla cream kicking in at the end, after a minute or two! Terrific white. Drinkable now, but better in two or three years.

The Bâtard was picked in the middle of the harvest. Pale primrose colour. The bouquet immediately steps up to another level in concentration. What a wonderful wealth of pure white fruit in the mouth. Its ripe, but nothing excessive, not the heavy old style Bâtard, just pure, concentrated and delicious. Drink from 2029-2037. Tasted Oct 2024.

Sophisticated on the nose thanks to a wide array of scents—vanilla custard, roasted peaches and patchouli, the palate is still coming together. There is pleasant vinosity accompanied by elegant, effortless acidity, but there is also the oiliness that was evident in the Pucelles. That noted, Solène did very little battonage in 2023, working to keep the wines on the reductive side. This will be one to go back to in bottle

Note: from the Puligny side. There is a hint of exotic fruit to the less expressive nose of acacia blossom, passion fruit, lychee and orange peel. The succulent, rich and punchy medium-bodied flavors possess a relatively refined mouthfeel , at least in the context of what is typical for Bâtard, all wrapped in a lingering, firm and well-balanced finale. This could use better depth so at least some patience is strongly recommended.

Notes

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "Domaine too, next to the egg of Anne-Claude – on the Puligny side. A calmer nose – though with evident concentration. Here is a wine of structure but concentration, that concentration ensuring no hard edges, softening as it melts. Complex, indeed delicious for such a baby. A really massive depth of finishing flavour – a wine apart – never too energetic just sustaining… That will be a great one."(01/2025)
