2023 Orin Swift "Mannequin" California Chardonnay

A blend of 96% Chardonnay, 2% Muscat Canelli, and 2% Sauvignon Blanc, aged 8 months, 25% new French oak. This wine leaps out of the glass with honeysuckle and jasmine flowers, layered with salty sea spray aromatics that subtly reveal the blend’s composition. Hints of coriander cream and sandalwood add further complexity. It is fresh and light on the palate yet delivers significant impact through acid tension, nuanced by crushed Marcona almonds. Lovely phenolic grip and a saline-acid backbone drive the structure, leading to a lengthy finish of salted crushed stone and almond skin. Sourced primarily from Napa and Sonoma, this wine delivers elegance and depth in a beautifully layered expression. (JC)
