2021 San Polino Brunello di Montalcino
96
James Suckling
Review Date: 12/2025Extremely perfumed, with aromas of black cherries, white roses, cedar and sandalwood that follow through to a medium body with gorgeous subtle fruit, fine tannins and a fresh and succulent finish. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but better in a couple of years.

Notes
he 2021 San Polino Brunello di Montalcino (the estate bottling) is a pure and vibrant expression of high-altitude Sangiovese, often showing a slightly more "rustic" and energetic character than its sibling, the Helichrysum. On the nose, it is expressive and clear, with scents of ripe sour cherry, raspberry, and wild herbs, accompanied by hints of iron and pine forest. The palate is focused and concentrated, balancing juicy red fruit with rustic, firm tannins and a savory, saline minerality. It is a "transparent" wine that favors energy and brightness over sheer weight.
