2022 Bideona "Laderas" Rioja

Bideona, located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, was founded in 2018 by Andreas Kubach MW and Sam Harrop MW after taking over an existing cellar in Villabuena de Álava. Bideona focuses on creating terroir-driven wines that reflect the unique character of the landscapes, villages, and historic vineyards where the grapes are grown rather than extended aging in barrqiue. The winery manages and cultivates over 300 small vineyard parcels, many with vines over 50 years old planted in the early to mid-20th century, often on limestone-rich soils at higher elevations that contribute freshness and complexity to the wines. Bideona’s portfolio includes village and single-parcel bottlings that showcase the diversity of Rioja Alavesa terroirs, such as wines from Laguardia, Villabuena, and Samaniego. The “Laderas” Rioja is made from low-yielding Tempranillo sourced from hillside vines (laderas) on limestone soils.
