Review Date: 01/2026The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignières comes from a single parcel - just three barrels this year. There was a bit of reduction on the nose when I tasted it at the Domaine. The palate is well balanced with a tangy entry, fine acidity that cuts through the red apple and pithy pear fruit. Lightly spiced on the finish. This is a rather compact yet promising Puligny.(NM)

Two barrels made, no new wood. Pale in colour, much more reductive in the nose. Strongly citrus infused on the palate, quite long, perhaps just a little lean, and finishes on a smoky reduction. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Oct 2025.

Originating from a warm site of 70-year-old vines neighboring Bâtard-Montrachet, the 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignières emerges from the glass with aromas of white peach, freshly baked bread, lemon oil and fresh hazelnut. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, layered and textural, underpinned by lively, balancing acidity and fine tension, before concluding in a long, saline finish. Only three barrels were produced.
In 2024, Damien Colin began the harvest relatively late, on September 14, and it concluded on September 22. While he lost some 5% to 10% of the crop to frost that affected vineyards in Saint-Aubin, the principal cause of low yields—as for many growers—was intense mildew pressure throughout the season. Average yields stood at around 35 hectoliters per hectare for the whites, with lower-than-average pH levels and wines reaching, for the most part, between 11% and 11.5% potential alcohol at harvest. Nevertheless, he chose not to chaptalize, in pursuit of greater freshness. Despite these challenges, the wines largely belie the difficulties of the year. Pure and incisive, they are immediately legible, with each appellation clearly articulated by site and by its de facto hierarchy. From a stylistic standpoint, they inhabit a middle ground between 2011 and 2014.(WK)
