Review Date: 01/2026The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet le Trezin comes from two parcels towards the top of the slope. There is less reduction here: well-defined citrus peel and orchard fruit, a hint of wet limestone. The palate is well balanced with a twist of sour lemon on the entry. Impressive weight for a Village Cru, conspicuous intensity with a spicy/peppery finish; this comes recommended.(NM_

Mid lemon colour. The bouquet starts as if it were going to be floral but actually delivers more in fruit, with candied citrus skins. Significant energy here, in fact more hillside Trézin than typically Puligny. Good length and fair concentration. Drink from 2028-2031. Tasted Oct 2025.

From 75-year-old vines at the top of the slope, where there is abundant limestone and almost no clay, comes one of the later-blooming, late-harvested wines: the 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Le Trézin. Articulating aromas of lemon oil, white flowers and crisp pear, it is medium- to full-bodied, pure and chiseled, with a taut core of fruit underpinned by mouthwatering acidity and concluding in a searingly saline finish. It offers a stylistic contrast to the broader, more textural Les Enseignières.
In 2024, Damien Colin began the harvest relatively late, on September 14, and it concluded on September 22. While he lost some 5% to 10% of the crop to frost that affected vineyards in Saint-Aubin, the principal cause of low yields—as for many growers—was intense mildew pressure throughout the season. Average yields stood at around 35 hectoliters per hectare for the whites, with lower-than-average pH levels and wines reaching, for the most part, between 11% and 11.5% potential alcohol at harvest. Nevertheless, he chose not to chaptalize, in pursuit of greater freshness. Despite these challenges, the wines largely belie the difficulties of the year. Pure and incisive, they are immediately legible, with each appellation clearly articulated by site and by its de facto hierarchy. From a stylistic standpoint, they inhabit a middle ground between 2011 and 2014.(WK)
