Reviewed January 2024Full-bodied and juicy, this shows scents of vanilla, chocolate-dipped strawberry, grilled meat and savory spice. Smart structure will keep this on its toes for years, but it will be best to wait a few before sampling its evolution. The vines are spread out across the climat and range from 45 to 75 years old.

Note: from a .69 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines. A very ripe yet still agreeably fresh nose combines notes of cassis, plum and forest floor trimmed in moderate wood influence. There is fine volume, density and power to the larger-scaled flavors that flash evident minerality on the compact, firm and equally built-to-age finale. This is almost always the best 1er in the Harmand range but in 2022 it appears that the Champeaux will give it a run for its money.*Burghound Outstanding!*

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "6 parcels that total 0.7 ha… The spice is fainter here but the nose a little too – but with pretty airy character. In the mouth, we have lots of class. The middle and finishing flavour whilst still less forward have a more obvious extra complexity and almost sparkly complexity to them – particularly good here – but it’s an obviously tighter wine today."(01/2024)
