2024 Domaine Pernot Belicard Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Champ Canet"

Review Date: 01/2026A clear mid lemon colour. The bouquet is fresher than the Champ Gain, more floral, more energy. Middleweight, attractively layered, better length, a more complete wine. A very good fruit acid balance, and some reserve at the finish. Drink from 2030-2035. Tasted Oct 2025.

The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Canet 1er Cru comes from another parcel of vines that suffers degeneration due to the SO49 rootstock. It has a little more penetration and intensity on the nose compared to the Champ Gain, heightened mineralité with touches of petrichor and wet limestone developing in the glass. The palate is taut and fresh with a menthol-tinged opening, fine weight, a little more exotic than the Champ Gain thanks to that discreet menthol note on the finish. Fine.(NM)
