Reviewed November 2022Tasted from the tank, the just-blended 2022 Spätburgunder (many different genetics) is from fruit sourced in the Zeltinger Himmelreich and the Kinheim Rosenberg and was fermented with 10% to 15% whole clusters. The wine opens with a concentrated and aromatic bouquet of red berries and cherries as well as toasty notes and the purity and freshness of Mosel slate. Silky, lush and refined on the palate, this is a charmingly round and silky-textured Pinot with refreshing lemon aromas on the intense and aromatic finish. The wine shows very fine tannins and a lingering salinity and indicates remarkable complexity. Tasted as a sample in early November 2023; it will be bottled in later November.(SR)

This Mosel red wine tastes of pinot noir, but is only light-bodied. There’s some summer berry charm, and with aeration it develops a touch of creaminess on the mid-palate. A bit short and simple, but harmonious and well made. Drink now. Screw cap.
