2023 Familiar Air Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Jeb Dunnuck
From a great site in Rutherford as well as Switchback Ridge, Montagna, and Oakville Ranch, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon has a smoking good nose of cassis, liquid violets, and darker chocolate, with some Saint-Julien-like minerality and floral nuances. It's medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, fine tannins, and a great finish. It's beautiful today, yet I see no reason it shouldn't keep for 15-20 years. Drink 2025-2045.

The Wine Palate
The 2023 Familiar Air Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec, and 5% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts with bold notes of plum preserves, warm cassis, and wild blueberries, followed by hints of menthol, dark chocolate, and black olives. The full-bodied palate is jam-packed with bright black fruits, framed by firm grainy tannins and a refreshing line, finishing long and spicy.
