Notes

95 points Wine Spectator: "Smells very ripe, evoking cherry and plum jam. Sweet, ripe, red and black cherry flavors pick up a truffle accent as this builds on the palate. Fine richness, culminating in a long finish." (2008) 93 points Allen Meadows: "This is still quite deeply colored with remarkably youthful aromas of earth, game and spice hints along with now partially mature dark berry fruit notes. The big-bodied and impressively scaled flavors brim with dry extract and still possess ample supporting tannins on the hugely long and palate coating finish. This is no model of finesse or elegance but it is a robust and muscular Clos de Vougeot that is still on its way up so for my taste, I would continue to cellar it for up to another decade." (08/10) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1993 Clos de Vougeot is medium-to-dark ruby-colored with touches of amber on the edges. It is admirably concentrated and deep, with powerful brambleberry and blackberry fruit. However, this medium-to-full-bodied wine has hard, rugged tannin (verging on astringent) that cause concern. I would opt for drinking it soon, but those readers that have faith in the 1993s may want to hold on to it for a decade to see what happens." (10/00)
