Here the Fuissé vineyards flow over the crest and turn north-east towards Pouilly. Old vines, with very little topsoil. This plot was hailed a bit on 3rd September so picked immediately after. A slightly more powerful and very complex nose with apples as much as flowers in the bouquet. Very good tension, this builds more muscle to the back, white fruit and a hint of liquorice. Another long fine finish with a more crystalline limestone note to finish. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted Jun 2025.

Coming from very calcareous soils and vines that face northeast, this is firmly focused. There is even a snippet of tannins here. Almond skins, straw, fresh blooms and hay give this brightness and freshness. These are some of the oldest parcels of the domaine, technically classified in Premier Cru as Les Reisses.

The 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé Tournant de Pouilly 1er Cru comes from Les Reisses (you will find it mentioned on the back label, which is technically the official one!). This was picked on the first day of harvest, having suffered some hail damage the previous day. It has a light bouquet that gains intensity: apricot and quince, touches of chai and chamomile. The palate is very well balanced with real depth and concentration, gentle grip and a touch of limestone on the sapid finish, the mineralité of which is heightened by the limestone content. Excellent.(NM)

Note: this is part of Les Reisses and is marked as a 1er on the back label. Moderate wood frames a more floral-suffused nose of ripe citrus confit, white peach and acacia blossom. The mouthfeel of the more concentrated and powerful larger-bodied flavors reflects excellent length on very dry finale that is shaped by bright lemon-tinged acidity. This is stylish but the citrus character of the finish might be too intense for some palates.

Notes

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "From Vers Pouilly Pouilly – Les Res 1er cru showing on the back label. Hailed in 2023!! But fortunately the day after the harvest ?? What a beautifully pure nose – perfumed and gorgeous. Next level clarity and purity – a wine that matches Ménétrières in all aspects but with much extra flavour-energy. Clearly great !!"(10/2025)
