2018 Cakebread "Vaca" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Cakebread Cellars has been a Rutherford mainstay since Jack and Dolores Cakebread purchased the former Sturdivant Ranch in 1972, planting their first Sauvignon Blanc soon after. The winery released its inaugural wine—a 1973 Chardonnay—following two years of hands-on construction of the original pondside facility. Early production relied on neighboring wineries for crush space, but expansion came quickly, including the first Cabernet Sauvignon release in 1976 and subsequent vineyard growth across Napa Valley. Today, Cakebread farms hundreds of acres and produces a broad range of varietals. Still family-run, the estate continues to emphasize quality, consistency, and Napa Valley expression.
