Reviewed June 2025Note: from Ez Crottes. Here too there is ample floral influence to the ripe and ever-so-vaguely exotic aromas of poached pear, white peach, orange peel and soft petrol. There is very good volume to the bigger-bodied and denser, though notably less refined, flavors that possess evident power on the bitter lemon rind-inflected finale. This is promising and a wine that should be more than capable of repaying 5 to 8-ish years of keeping.

The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots 1er Cru hails from one of the earlier picked sites in order to preserve acidity. This has a more airy, slightly malic bouquet at the moment, with touches of sea spray and yellow fruit developing only after some aeration. The palate is very harmonious, open-knit and expressive, though the Vergers displays a touch of terroir and mineralité on the finish at present. This is more elegant in style and perhaps earlier drinking.(NM)
