Reviewed January 2025The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Vergers 1er Cru has touches of walnut and smoke on the nose. It has a little more precision than the Chenevottes, with a Meursault-like style. The palate is well balanced with red apples, ginger and a touch of white pepper, a taut line of acidity and a long, composed finish. This is excellent.(NM)

Note: from a .95 ha holding in Vergers proper. A suggestion of herbal tea lurks in the background of the fresh and bright aromas of citrus zest, acacia blossom and passion fruit. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the slightly less concentrated but seductively textured flavors that conclude in a balanced and lingering finish. This could use better depth so at least a few years of keeping are in order.
