2011 Glenburgie 13 Year "Single Cask Nation" 1st Fill Spanish Oak Olroso Hogshead (4.5yrs) Single Barrel #161592 Cask Strength Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)
Notes
Established in 1810 near Forres, Glenburgie has historically supplied some of Scotland’s most famous blends thanks to its fruity, full bodied spirit. Rarely encountered as a single malt, especially from an active sherry cask, it offers a fascinating look at a distillery better known behind the scenes. This interesting single cask was distilled in September 2011 and bottled in Summer 2025 after 13 years, including 4.5 years in a 1st fill Spanish oak Oloroso hogshead. Bottled non-chill filtered at a formidable 60.8 percent ABV, just 289 bottles were produced. The nose leads with caramelized sugar, roasted hazelnut and gentle incense, followed by cinnamon and polished oak spice. The palate is structured and powerful, layering toffee, toasted nuts and savory spice with firm sherry driven depth. The finish is warm and drying while retaining a pleasant sweetness. A bold and confident Speyside malt shaped by expressive Spanish oak.
