Wayward Cask 33 Year Old Cask Strength Single Barrel Pays D'Auge Calvados(750ml)

Notes

The Pays d’Auge region of Normandy is widely regarded as the spiritual heart of Calvados production, known for double distillation and a fruit driven style that balances orchard sweetness with measured oak structure. The village of Reux sits among exceptional apple orchards that produce some of the region’s most characterful eaux de vie. This special single cask was distilled in 1990 and aged for 33 years before being bottled at natural cask strength, 93 proof and 46.5 percent ABV. Non chill filtered and with no additives, it represents a rare opportunity to experience long aged Calvados at full proof rather than the more commonly reduced bottlings. The palate opens with baked apple layered against bright pear and a lift of citrus. Oak influence builds gradually, bringing mild baking spice and vanilla while maintaining a viscous, coating texture. As it develops, the spiced oak begins to frame and gently overtake the fruit, creating a compelling tension between orchard freshness and mature wood. The finish is medium in length with notes of dry fruit and toasted oak. A beautifully balanced example of aged Pays d’Auge Calvados with both vitality and depth.
