1982 Domaine de Sancin 42 Year Old "Wayward Cask" Cask Strength Single Barel Bas-Armagnac (750ml)

Notes

Bas Armagnac is celebrated for producing some of the most aromatic and long lived brandies in Gascony. The sandy soils of the region yield spirits that develop remarkable complexity with extended aging, especially in great vintages. The 1982 harvest is widely considered one of the finest of the last century, blessed with exceptional growing conditions that produced deeply concentrated eau de vie. This extraordinary single barrel from the now closed Domaine Sancin was distilled in 1982 and aged for 42 years before being bottled at cask strength, 97.2 proof and 48.6 percent ABV. Non chill filtered and without additives, it stands as a rare surviving example from a great vintage. The texture is velvety and layered, delivering concentrated notes of leather, stewed fruit and tobacco with pronounced rancio character at the forefront. As it opens, earthy tones and mature oak emerge, adding dimension and structure. The finish unfolds slowly with warm baking spice, forest floor and lingering notes of vanilla, raisin and seasoned oak. A profound and contemplative Bas Armagnac that captures the depth and elegance only decades of patient aging can provide.
