If the Rosso is the "Burgundy of the Mediterranean," then the 2024 Quantico Etna Bianco is undoubtedly its Chablis. Sourced from the same organically farmed vineyards in the Solicchiata district on the northern slopes of the volcano, this is a stunning, laser-focused expression of Carricante (blended with a touch of Catarratto) that vibrates with energy. Quantico is a small, artisanal project that flies under the radar compared to the big commercial names on Etna, and that is exactly why the value here is so incredible. It captures the essence of high-altitude winemaking perfectly. The nose is electric: wet stone, lemon zest, and green apple, softened by delicate notes of white flowers, wild anise, and fresh mint. It smells like the sea breeze. On the palate, it is bone dry, tense, and incredibly saline. The texture is etched by volcanic minerality, providing a mouth-watering grip. A brilliant, crystalline wine. It really reflects its terroir, that is why I love this so much.
