The Giacomo Conterno 2023 Nebbiolo d'Alba Vigna Arione is beautifully intense and generous with lifted floral aromas, vibrant red berry fruit and exceptional purity. The wine offers remarkable fullness and fruit on the palate, balanced by freshness and impeccable harmony. Scheduled to be bottled in September and released just one month later, this is a Nebbiolo that delivers tremendous pleasure from the outset. The 2023 Giacomo Conterno "Arione" Nebbiolo d'Alba is a "Barolo in all but name," sourced from a plot in Serralunga that sits just outside the official Barolo boundary. The nose is exceptionally perfumed, leading with sweet red cherry, rose petals, and blood orange, followed by deeper notes of mint and white pepper. On the palate, it is characterized by "crystalline" purity and a vibrant energy, balancing succulent red fruit with high acidity and the structural, fine-grained tannins typical of Arione's limestone soils. It is a focused, high-toned wine with a long, savory finish of mineral salts and dried herbs.
