2024 Domaine Henri Boillot Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
97
Burghound
Review Date: 06/2026Note: one contiguous parcel measuring about .24 ha is spread evenly between Chassagne and Puligny; Boillot calls it his Bâtard du Milieu, or Bâtard of the Middle. Once again there is just enough wood to merit mentioning setting off the spicier aromas that blends notes of pear and apple with those of acacia, anise and petrol. Despite not being super-dense, the broad-shouldered flavors possess excellent size, weight and volume as well as impressive power on the overtly lemony, compact, youthfully austere and massively long finish. And, much like the Clos de la Mouchère, the intensity is borderline painful as the flavors seem to etch themselves onto the palate. This is absolutely a 'wow' wine but it's also one to buy and forget that you own it for at least a decade.
