2022 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Clos"

Review Date: 07/2023Mostly from old vines, a good half planted between 1948 and 1952. Translucent lemon and lime colour. The bouquet is not ready to unfurl yet there is a sense of sublime purity about the nose. A wine in perfect harmony on its wide bench of white fruit. Just a little touch of spice behind, good acidity. Sign up for this! Drink from 2032-2045.

Notes
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "4.10 ha, principally the higher section but some lower towards Grenouilles – mainly planted before 1950 by that father of William Fevre. Always the only wine in this – or pretty much any line-up of great Chablis that makes me think – Chevalier-Montrachet! A more alive and zesty aromatic from this – almost 2021 in style. Plenty of gas you must wait for it to fade. Here’s a wine with (almost!) the density of Preuses but the fluidity of the Bouguerots. A haunting finish that holds impressive intensity. Properly grand and still far from the finished article – Grand Vin for sure!"(10/2024)
