The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Hameau de Blagny 1er Cru comes from the vineyard that Remi Colin believes is the most complex in warm vintages due to the shallow soil. The harvest is approached as five parcels according to the depth of the soil. This has a more introverted bouquet compared to the Chalumaux, revealing hints of white flower, honeysuckle, lemon thyme and crushed stone – just beautiful. The palate is very well balanced, displaying more complexity than the Chalumaux, finely judged acidity and so much elegance on the saline finish that you just want to take the next sip straight away. Fine fresh and attractive colour, the nose is more discreet than Genelotte. Fresh and discreet on the palate too, attractive texture, less flesh, the same persistence. (TA)
