Vinous
Reviewed October 2025The 2024 Riesling Brauneberger Juffer Spätlese mixes a subtle streak of lime with flinty reduction, pointing right away at raciness. The palate is stony and taut, but trembles with white and yellow peach at its core, framed by vivid zestiness. It is light, juicy and bright. The 2024 pirouettes across the palate in consummate fashion. If you told me this was a Kabinett, I'd believe you. It is so agile, fresh and zesty. The 2024 is unbelievably energetic and gorgeously balanced. It is deliciousness itself. (Medium)(AK)

Quite rich and compact for a 2024 Spatlese (which are often on the light side). The wide spectrum of aromas reminds me of English hedges in summer. Wonderfully vibrant and slatey on the juicy, medium-bodied palate, this is joyfully refreshing. Long, refined finish. From organically grown grapes with Fair Choice certification. Drink or hold.

The 2024 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese reveals a fine raisin and weathered slate aroma with delicate flint notes. Filigreed and savory on the palate, this is a light, highly delicate yet intense and persistently saline Spätlese with a long, intense, savory finish. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in March 2026.(SR)

Oliver Haag’s 2024 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Spätlese AP #5 is a lovely young wine. It offers up a complex and refined aromatic constellation of pear, white cherries, lime leaf, slate minerality, bee pollen and a topnote of lilac blossoms. On the palate the wine is medium-full, complex and filigreed, with a lovely core of fruit, fine soil signature, zesty acids and lovely focus on the long, impeccably balanced finish. This is an absolutely delicious Spätlese. Its technical details this year are 7.5 percent alcohol, 8.5 grams per liter of acidity and 76 grams per liter of residual sugar. A lovely wine. (Drink between 2025-2075)
Notes
93pts Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 05 25. The Juffer 2024 Riesling Spätlese, as it is referred to on the consumer label, is a sweet wine with a great nose made of spices, peach, apricot blossom, whipped cream, and smoke. It is beautifully playful and delicate on the palate and leaves a nice feel of fresh orchard fruit, whipped cream, and apricot blossom wrapped into thyme in the long finish. This is a classic expression of Spätlese to enjoy fully in a decade. 2034-2049."(12/2025)
