The name "Riff" (German for Reef) is a direct nod to the geological history of the Dolomite foothills where these vines grow. Millions of years ago, these majestic, jagged peaks were actually living coral reefs in a prehistoric ocean. That ancient marine heritage is the defining feature of the terroir, leaving behind fossil-rich limestone soils that impart a distinct, saline backbone to the wine.
