Notes
The Alberelli di Giodo Nerello Mascalese is Carlo Ferrini’s tribute to the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna, produced from tiny parcels of 80- to 100-year-old pre-phylloxera vines. These ancient vines are trained in the traditional bush-style (alberello) at a staggering altitude of 950 meters on the volcano's northern face. On the nose, the wine is high-toned and ethereal, characterized by wild berry aromas of cassis and strawberry mingled with volcanic signatures of ash, iron, and crushed stone. The palate is exceptionally graceful yet structured, balancing a translucent red fruit core with powdered, fine-grained tannins and a vibrant, citrus-tapered acidity. It finishes with immense focus and a lingering "lava-like" minerality, showcasing the same quest for elegance that Ferrini pursues in his iconic Brunellos but with the wild, vertical energy unique to Etna's high-altitude terroir.
