A new wine that is a cask selection. It’s certainly different from the normal bottling, with aromas of red cherries, cedar, hibiscus and crushed stones. The palate shows round tannins and a juicy and savory finish. A second wine of this estate. From organically grown grapes. Best after 2028.

Showing a more jovial personality, this new wine from Carlo Ferrini is meant to bridge the gap between his Rosso and the flagship Giodo Brunello. The Giodo 2021 Brunello di Montalcino Prètto represents a new mid-level Brunello, a category increasingly shaped by a market less tolerant of overpriced wines. In the Tuscan dialect, Prètto means “truthful” or “sincere.” It delivers punchy fruit achieved through a slow 20-day skin maceration, along with spice, white pepper and pressed violet. Slightly more accessible in style, the wine still maintains good freshness and balance, reflecting Ferrini’s intent to offer an honest and immediately appealing Brunello. The wine is released in a production of 15,000 bottles from fruit selected across four hectares of vines. (ML)

The 2021 Giodo Brunello di Montalcino "Prètto" is an exciting addition to the Podere Giodo lineup, born from the collaboration between Carlo Ferrini and his daughter, Bianca. While the flagship Giodo is known for its "grandeur," the Prètto (meaning "pure" or "straightforward") is a barrel selection designed to emphasize a more spontaneous, vibrant, and energetic expression of Sangiovese. On the nose, it is exceptionally clean and luminous, offering a bouquet of crisp red fruits like cherry, wild strawberry, and redcurrant, accented by floral notes of hibiscus, cedar, and a refreshing flinty minerality. The palate is tonic and agile, featuring a solid structure that never feels heavy, supported by a lively acidity and soft, well-defined tannins that enhance its drinkability. It finishes with a savory, long persistence marked by balsamic touches and fine spices. It is a Brunello that perfectly captures the brilliance of the 2021 vintage, prioritizing freshness and the sincerity of the fruit while maintaining the signature Ferrini elegance.
