Cool and herbal on the nose, this youthful, entry-level dry riesling has a wealth of citrus aromas and a chalky character on the compact, medium-bodied palate. Impressive length for this category, and the crisp, lemony acidity is beautifully integrated. The blend contains declassified wines from 15-year-old vines in the Auelerde and Brunnenhuschen GG sites. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drink from release.

Predominantly sourced in Westhofen, the Wittmann 2024 Riesling trocken Estate is deep, pure, fresh and chalky/saline on the stimulating and characterful Wonnegau nose that reveals perfectly ripe and intense fruit. Aged in 3,000-liter oak vats and in stainless steel, this is a round, intense and crystalline, citric and finely tannic dry Riesling classic from a classic vintage. 11.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted in Westhofen, August 2025. Wittmann's 2024 Morstein GG Riesling is the outstanding wine of the vintage at this organic domaine. At least, it was the best at the tasting at the end of August, while other favorites such as La Borne and Brunnenhäuschen still had to contend with the harshness of the limestone and were more promising than enjoyable. It is possible that the difference in quality between the crus and the basic wines is greater than the ratings here suggest. Nevertheless, it should be emphasized how excellent the relatively inexpensive Rieslings of the 2024 vintage are. It would not be the first time that the single vineyards have distanced themselves more clearly from the base wines over time, catching up with the Morstein, which is in splendid early form. But this requires patience, and in the meantime, one can enjoy the supposedly lesser wines of the house with pleasure. 2024 was not a charming, full-bodied vintage but a lean one, with a lot of raciness and tension, which, especially on the limestone soils of Westhofen, is likely to prove once again

The 2024 Estate Riesling Trocken from Weingut Wittmann is just a touch reductive when first opened, but blossoms briskly to offer up a lovely bouquet of tart orange, sweet grapefruit, a fine foundation of limestone minerality, dried flowers, wild yeasts, a touch of fresh rosemary and a topnote of lemongrass. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and quite elegant in profile, with a good core, fine soil signature, zesty acids and lovely length on the complex and very well balanced finish. This is a lovely Estate Riesling Trocken. (Drink between 2025-2045)

The 2024 Riesling trocken was harvested by hand from both Westhofen and the surrounding villages on calcareous marl and limestone. More than half of this fermented in wood, with the rest in stainless steel. A lovely verve of lemon and grapefruit colors the pale peach on the nose. Juiciness, lightness, coolness and direction drive this forward, bringing on immense refreshment. This is beautifully dry and totally crisp. (Bone-dry)(AK)

I just really don't get tired of Riesling, even if I decide I don't want a dry one right now there's a few different levels to go up that will probably make me happy at some point. This has a really soft and pretty nose, lots of minerality and a little bit of fruit. The palate has much deeper pretty fruit, lots of peach and then a lot more minerality on the lingering and lengthy finish. These are so good, crazy enjoyable, and with such a great depth, it's always weird to me how well priced these wines are. It's fantastic all the way through, every day.
