The 2023 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is much more rich and extravagant on the nose than the Clos Saint-Denis. Red plums, redcurrant and light rose petal scents are joined by potpourri with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with plush tannins and a fine bead of acidity. This is a lavish and sensual Clos de la Roche with an almost crystalline finish. Outstanding.(NM)

A clear deep ruby purple. There is an impressive quantity of pure refined deep raspberry fruit with a touch of graphite and the traditional blueberry from this site. The fruit is beautifully judged and it follows smoothly across the palate, with fine-grained tannins and adequate acidity. Drink from 2033-2045. Tasted Nov 2024.

The 2023 Dujac Clos de la Roche is beautifully red fruity in personality this year. The wine’s aromatic constellation is utterly refined, offering up notes of red plums, red and black cherries, gamebird, raw cocoa, a very complex foundation of soil tones, woodsmoke, mustard seed and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and shows off stunning depth of fruit at the core, with fine soil signature, ripe, seamless tannins and impeccable balance on the very long, extremely promising finish. Great juice. (Drink between 2040-2100)

Graphite, blood orange, black cherries and vanilla bean offer a generous nose. The palate is unusually soft, welcoming and fleshy—a reflection of the vintage, but it's wrapped in feisty tannins that don't worry Jeremy at this stage. There is a wholesomeness that does suggest this will come into its own in due time.

Notes

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "More direct, a certain extra vibrancy and depth of aroma. This packs in some extra structural tannin too. Here is an extra sweetness in the finishing flavour. Today this is the more direct, the CSD the rounder. This is showing extra definition today so it gets my hat-tip from the two."(09/2024)
