Note: from a .70 ha parcel planted in 1970. There is a whiff of phenolic character lurking in the background of the more elegant aromas of white orchard fruit, ocean breeze, algae and shrimp shell. The super-sleek, dense and rich medium weight plus flavors also flash both good power and evident minerality on the even longer and impeccably well-balanced finale. This offers what all great examples of Preuses do, e.g., a Zen-like poise and like the Forest, it has the potential to be one of the best the domaine has produced, which is really saying something. The most concentrated wine in this year’s portfolio, the 2024 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses crowns the domaine’s collection. Its Chablisien character is as clear as ever, offering a marine-inflected bouquet of oyster juice and iodine intertwined with orange peel, white peach and almond paste. The palate is medium- to full-bodied and racy, buoyed by the vintage’s brisk acids and ample chalky extract, culminating in a long, saline finish. As Les Clos wasn’t produced this year and volumes are small, it won’t be easy to find—but it’s worth the effort. When the result attains such distinction in a vintage as challenging as this, there can be no doubt that one is in the presence of genius.(KK)

The 2024 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru was reduced to three pièces and two feuillettes. It has a wonderful bouquet with a thrilling sense of tension and mineralité. The palate is tensile from the start with blackcurrant notes permeating the citrus fruit before dovetailing into a feisty and peppery finish that is quintessential Les Preuses. The 2024 is superb.
