Aromas of herbs and touches of lees and almonds with a little bitterness and salinity to give it complexity and freshness. Medium- to full-bodied with bone-dry flavors of limes and salt. So much energy. Drink from 2030.

Like the prior two wines, the expressive and distinctly cool nose freely announces that this could be from nowhere else but a wine made from vines grown on Kimmeridgian soil with its notes of mineral reduction, petrol, shellfish and iodine. The strikingly rich broad-shouldered flavors possess imposing size, weight and power while flashing a borderline aggressive minerality on the hugely long, balanced and built-to-age finale. I have seen close to 40 vintages of the Dauvissat La Forest and while it of course remains to be seen, 2024 could be one of the all-time great years for it, right up there with the amazing 2008 and 2014. Otherwise expressed, if you can find it, buy it.*Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*

The Dauvissat family’s 2024 Chablis “la Forest” is absolutely classic. The bouquet isbright, cool and complex, offering up scents of pink grapefruit, lemon, pear, anise, a gorgeousfoundation of chalky soil tones, citrus peel, white lilies and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine ispure, full-bodied, deep and focused, with a succulent core of fruit, stellar mineral drive and grip, afine girdle of acidity, seamless balance and a very long, very pure and nascently complex finish.Great juice. 2030-2065+

Among the year’s most compelling wines, the 2024 Chablis 1er Cru La Forest unfurls with inflections of oyster juice, lemon peel, iodine and spring flowers mingling with beeswax. Medium- to full-bodied and tensile, with huge energy and all the hallmarks of the site, it pulses with electric acidity and is structured around ample amounts of chalky extract. The finish is saline and laser-focused, underlining this cuvée’s classical Chablisien profile in 2024. It stands as a considerable success in a challenging vintage, and I am ever more inclined to view it as the climat’s most compelling exponent.(KK)
