Like the prior two wines, the expressive and distinctly cool nose freely announces that this could be from nowhere else but a wine made from vines grown on Kimmeridgian soil with its notes of mineral reduction, petrol, shellfish and iodine. The strikingly rich broad-shouldered flavors possess imposing size, weight and power while flashing a borderline aggressive minerality on the hugely long, balanced and built-to-age finale. I have seen close to 40 vintages of the Dauvissat La Forest and while it of course remains to be seen, 2024 could be one of the all-time great years for it, right up there with the amazing 2008 and 2014.
