It's pure, floral, deep, and nuanced, with medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, layered, lifted mouthfeel, fine tannins, and outstanding length. Sam Kaplan began sourcing fruit from Vine Hill Ranch in 2017, drawing specifically from Blocks 7 and 4, planted to Clone 337 and Clone 4, respectively. In 2023, this wine is deeply impressive yet firmly coiled, clearly demanding time in the cellar. It is tight and restrained on opening, not immediately expressive, but unmistakably built for a long, patient slumber as it matures. What is already evident is its brightness and energy, with crunchy red berry fruit and subtle Indian spice notes that will unfurl with added complexity over time.
