There's an almost waxy quality to the nose, and it's really compelling in all the best of ways, I feel like it's a promise of texture and weight on the palate, but first let's work on this bouquet. Underneath the light waxy note, there's golden apple, lemon zest and lemon juice, this super light umami touch in the middle of the nose, white flowers around the edges, and dry stones. The palate has a nice little pop at the front, green apple with lemon, then wet river rocks, lingering sort of white peach and roundness. It is as hoped really lovely and textural, with a serious and lingering denseness that sticks with you, maybe not on your palate but in your mind between sips. It's very fun to drink, and what else could you want from a wine?

Looking for a stellar Chardonnay or perhaps experimenting outside of California? This is the place to start! There is a wonderfully floral nose with scents of sea salt, nectarine and lemon cream. On the palate, quite zippy and clean. There is a nice base of white peach, yellow pear and a mid-palate that has moderate and elegant richness. The finish is quite clean but, also has depth of lingering stone fruit and orchard fruit flavors. A winner!

Notes

Domaine Ferret has been a central force in Pouilly-Fuissé since 1840, shaping the appellation’s identity through continuous estate bottling and an unusually long lineage of women vigneronnes. Under Jeanne Ferret and later her daughter Colette, the domaine became known for rigorous parcel study and a deep commitment to the limestone amphitheater of Fuissé. Since joining the Maison Louis Jadot family in 2008, Ferret has continued to emphasize terroir precision, producing Chardonnay from key sites—including newly recognized Premier Cru vineyards such as Les Perrières and Le Clos. Hand harvesting, careful sorting, and extended lees aging remain central to the domaine’s style, yielding wines that balance mineral drive with layered texture.
