Rich and dense, remarkable mineral freshness on the nose with lemon peel and nectarine fruit, along with notes of oyster shell and chalk. The texture is creamy and the finish is long. The grapes are from Kimmeridgian marl soils on plots just next to the grand cru slope. Although there are 3.6ha over eight parcels, the yield in Vaulorent was so low that Didier Séguir remarked: ‘The hardest thing will be finding any.'(CC)

Note: from a huge 3.63 ha parcel out of only 17 ha and most of it is hard by Les Preuses. Séguier calls this their "baby grand cru" as specific barrels are selected for vine age, concentration and power; from yields of only 8 hl/ha in 2024. In much the same fashion as the Montmains, the nose makes clear that this could only be from Chablis with its nose of quinine, petrol, mineral reduction, tidal pool and oyster shell. There is outstanding volume, mid-palate density and power to the beautifully textured medium weight plus flavors that deliver excellent depth and persistence. This is arguably a bit less refined than it usually is but it's also notably more concentrated and powerful. One to strongly consider.*Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*

The power of this Premier Cru abutting the Grand Crus is evident, even in this challenging vintage. Dried herbs, savory spices, lemon peels and bread crumbs create heady complexity on the nose and palate. Crushed seashells gently surface as the wine sits in the glass.

The 2024 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru comes from a 3.6-hectare plot that produced 12 barrels this vintage. It has impressive focus and mineralité on the nose, just fizzing with energy. The palate is medium-bodied, crisp and tensile, with fine acidity and a classically styled, flinty, citric finish. This is another great 2024 from William Fèvre.(NM)
