Consistently among my favourite Chevaliers, the Clos des Chevaliers from Jean Chartron does not disappoint, with pronounced aromas of greengage plum, lemon peel and nectarine, a stony mineral foundation and accents of acacia flowers and spice. On the palate, the wine shows exceptional concentration and depth of flavour, with a lively, dynamic feel; it is superb in every regard. The half-hectare of vines at the northern end of the historical section of Chevalier is among the greatest sites for white wine in Burgundy.(CC)

The Clos des Chevaliers bottling is the gold standard for this great grand cru vineyard and Jean-Michel’s 2024 version is one of the finest I have ever tasted from him during his long career. The wine’s aromatic constellation is vibrant and utterly refined, offering up scents of apple, pear, fresh almond, a gorgeous base of chalky soil tones, crème pâtissière, lemon blossoms, white lilies and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, precise, deep and full-bodied, with a very elegant profile, stunning depth of succulent fruit at the core, great focus and balance, a lovely spine of acidity and a very, very long, complex and seamless finish. This is a brilliant wine. 2031-2070.

Harvested on 15 September, the 2024 Chevalier-Montrachet Clos de Chevaliers Grand Cru has a fragrant bouquet with citrus fruit, hints of fern and fennel, crushed stone surfacing with aeration. Impressive delineation here. The palate is very well balanced with spot-on acidity, bright and vivacious, though very complex with a mineral-driven finish that is top notch. Certainly this is as good as the 2023. Excellent.(NM)

Mid lemon and lime. More white fruit on the nose, a greater sense of class, not just more open. This is remarkably stylish, a fully worthy Chevalier, the fruit floating on top of the bone structure. Very well done. 7 barrels made Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Oct 2025.
