The 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet AC bottling chez Chartron does not bear the name of its lieu à dit this year, les Benoites, as twenty-five percent of the blend this year hails from the premier cru of les Caillerets, which Jean-Michel replanted five or six years ago. The wine is certainly not suffering from the addition of twenty-five percent young vine Caillerets in the blend, as it offers up a superb bouquet of pear, lemon, a beautiful base of chalky soil tones, vanillin oak and a topnote of lemon blossoms. On the palate the wine is bright, succulent and full-bodied, with a lovely core, beautiful soil undertow, a fine spine of acidity and excellent focus and balance on the very long, complex and vibrant finish. This is very, very good this year! 2026-2050.

The 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Villages has a delineated bouquet with assiduous use of oak. Just the faintest reduction at play. The palate is fresh and crisp with citrus peel, orange pith and a little spice. Very pretty, very elegant with a nicely focused finish this punches above its weight.(NM)

Incorporates the young vines of Caillerets. Fresh lime colour. More austere on the nose than the St-Aubin Murgers Dents de Chien, or indeed Perrières, still with a good backbone, a little yellow fruit, a citrus wash, and fair length. Drink from 2027-2030. Tasted Oct 2025.

Notes

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "The normal Benoites but augmented with some young vine Chassagne Caillerets – almost 25%. A calmer but still quite mineral width of aroma. Also with plenty of remaining CO2 – what a wonderful peak of middle and finishing flavour – gorgeous finishing flavour. Very slowly fading – simply excellent, delicious wine…"(11/2025)
