Cool and elegant aromas of honeysuckle, spice, orange peel, exotic tea and a plenitude of floral elements are trimmed in admirably discreet wood. The exceptionally rich and quite generously proportioned flavors possess a plush but decidedly punchy mouthfeel while maintaining equally good balance on the beautifully long finale. Pale lemon yellow. One of the very ripe exotic noses, a little touch of peach and mango, but it then refines to offer more precision, enough of the steely backbone of true Pucelles. Finishes in fine style, by way of these more exotic notes which may become less evident as the core fruit develops. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted Nov 2024.

The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru sported quite a lot of reduction on the nose when I tasted it from barrel. I would just like to see more mineralité come through here. The palate is fresh on the entry, taut at first with fine acidity, weight and sapidity, and a lightly spiced finale. Fine, though it doesn't quite deliver the intellectual complexity of this great Premier Cru.(NM)
