This project has been under development since 2015, when viticulturist Pedro Izquierdo came into contact with the Mapuche community of Buchahueico, in the Purén zone of the Malleco Valley. He began teaching viticulture to the local families there, and today they have four vineyards, 2.5 hectares each. Winemaker Viviana Navarrete (Viña Leyda) is also in contact with the community and is in charge of making the wine. 60% of the volume was aged in stainless steel tanks in order to preserve the local fruit, and the rest in oak and concrete. It was also 35% whole-cluster fermented. The ripe sensation of the fruit is accentuated and accompanied by smoky tones, deep and intense ripe red fruits, and earthy touches that seem to come from the area's volcanic soils. The body has a lot of grip, with firm tannins that project alongside those deep and juicy flavors. An excellent version of one of the best pinots in Chile.

Now into its third vintage, this pioneering project is a joint venture with nine Mapuche families in Malleco. Made from clones 115, 777 and 828 and fermented with 30% whole bunches, it's a serious, dense, compact Pinot Noir with plum and black cherry fruit, subtle wood and the structure and grip to age further in bottle.

Savory cranberries and red cherries, wild herbs and boysenberries. A structured pinot with juicy sour fruit on the palate and a herbaceous note at the end. Herbal, transparent and tight. Sustainable. Give it a year to settle and evolve.
