Review Date: 01/2026Mid crimson red, a cleaner purer fruit to my taste. Not the garrigue that Etienne Grivot talks of for Roncière but just a pure red fruit on the nose, then maybe a herbal touch at the back. Good tension at the back and a lovely aftertaste. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted Nov 2025.

The 2024 Roncières from Bertrand Chevillon has a lovely touch of red fruit in its aromatic and flavor profile. The wine’s bouquet wafts from the glass in a very refined mix of red and black cherries, gamebird, sweet nutskin, a complex base of dark soil tones, woodsmoke, vanillin oak and a floral topnote that is redolent of peonies. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and classically structured, with an excellent core of fruit, fine soil inflection, ripe, well-integrated tannins and a very long, nascently complex and impeccably balanced finish. This will be an absolutely beautiful wine once it is ready to drink. 2038-2085.

Note: from a 1.0 ha parcel of 45+ year old vines. A more subdued nose requires moderately aggressive swirling to reveal the blend of softly spicy and earthy aromas of both red and blue pinot fruit. Once again the mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is quite sleek with a more subtle minerality that adds a sense of lift to the refined, firm and well-balanced finale. This is pretty much textbook Roncières.*Burghound Outstanding!*

The 2024 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Roncières 1er Cru has a very capable bouquet not dissimilar to the Bousselottes, with cranberry, strawberry and pomegranate scents, perhaps with a more floral underlying element. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, slightly darker/blacker fruit here with touches of forest floor on the saline finish. Very fine.(NM)
