A perfumed, airy and almost intoxicating nose freely offers up an exuberantly spicy combination of red cherry, dark currant and exotic tea. The super-sleek and seriously intense middle weight flavors also brim with minerality on the sappy and strikingly persistent finale. An even mid purple. The bouquet immediately offers a wealth of fruit at perfect ripeness. An increasing volume of fresh red fruit, slightly higher acidity, fine tannins, some length. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Nov 2025.

The 2024 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru was reduced to five or six barrels this year. This is a little edgier and more angular on the nose, more sous-bois coming through. It just needs time to cohere in barrel and then in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a mixture of red and black fruit tinged with brown spices towards the nicely structured finish. It does not quite have the crystalline purity of the Pruliers but it should drink well for 12 to 15 years.(NM)
