Note: from a .60 ha parcel of 75+ year old vines. A restrained, cool and quite airy nose also requires moderately aggressive swirling to reveal its blend of the spicy essence of red cherry and earth that is trimmed in just enough wood to merit mentioning. Once again there is excellent size, weight and volume as well as unusually good mid-palate density in the context of the vintage, all wrapped in a palate staining, stony and wonderfully long finale that is noticeably firmer. This is also first-rate but as is virtually always the case, a wine built to repay extended aging.*Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*

The 2024 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru was not spared the onslaught of the season and reduced to three barrels. Nevertheless, it has admirable purity on the nose with redcurrant, pomegranate and touches of bergamot tea on the nose, a little more mineralité underneath. The palate is very harmonious and silky smooth. Beautifully balanced with a fine backbone towards the finish, albeit without a sustained aftertaste. Still, this constitutes just a lovely Les Saint-Georges.(NM)
